Mental Health Awareness: A Conversation We All Belong In

May 29, 2025

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time dedicated to breaking silence, reducing stigma, and opening up conversations around our emotional and psychological well-being. But mental health awareness isn’t just something we observe once a year. It’s a vital, ongoing invitation to understand ourselves and others more deeply.

At its core, mental health awareness means recognizing that mental health is part of the human experience—not something that happens to “other people,” and not something that defines our worth or identity. Just like we care for our physical bodies, we are allowed (and encouraged) to care for our emotional and relational lives, too.

Mental health exists on a spectrum. Some of us live with anxiety, depression, or trauma that impacts us every day. Others might face more situational struggles—like burnout, grief, relationship stress, or big life transitions. No matter where we fall on that spectrum, one thing is true: we all benefit from a culture that values emotional well-being.

Awareness is more than knowledge. It’s also compassion.
When we talk about mental health openly, without shame or judgment, we give others—and ourselves—permission to be human. We normalize asking for help. We make space for vulnerability. And we shift the narrative from “what’s wrong with you?” to “what happened to you?” and “how can we support your healing?”

As a therapist, I see every day how brave it is to face our inner worlds. And I also see how powerful it can be when people feel safe enough to explore what’s going on beneath the surface—whether that means working through old patterns, healing from trauma, or learning how to relate in new ways.

That’s why Mental Health Awareness Month matters. It reminds us that healing is possible. That therapy and coaching are not signs of weakness, but tools for growth. That we don’t have to wait until things fall apart to reach out—we can begin now, wherever we are.

This month, I invite you to reflect on your own mental health with curiosity and care:

  • What helps you feel grounded?
  • Where are you holding stress or emotional weight?
  • What would it feel like to have support as you navigate it?

You don’t have to carry everything alone. Whether it’s through individual coaching, relationship support, or psychedelic integration work, we are here to walk with you—at your pace, in your process.

Let’s continue to build a world where emotional wellness is honored, supported, and celebrated. Because mental health isn’t just something we talk about in May—it’s something we live, nurture, and protect all year long.
