Hello! I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I believe that the best therapeutic foundation is built through the relationship between therapist and client. Come as you are, and together we will take a curious and non-judgmental approach to understanding your experience. In doing so, we will promote your healing, growth, and development into the best version of yourself.
My professional journey began after completed an undergraduate degree in psychology at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I then worked in-home with adults with various disabilities, developing skills to live independently in their communities. From there I enrolled in graduate school at a joint Master of Social Work program between University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine University. During that time, I also worked in a dual diagnosis treatment center. I then worked as part of a “hospital to home” team prior to joining a clinic system as a therapist. I entered a psychoanalytic program through the Minnesota Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (MICPP) shortly after starting outpatient work, receiving training and consultation from local and national experts. My journey has taught me the value of self-exploration, the power of self-determination, and the absolute necessity of human connection.
I enjoy working with a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, addiction, and life transitions to name a few. I like to challenge internalized beliefs, alleviate shame, and nurture healthy self-esteem. I offer a calm, safe environment to attend to these very important tasks.
What is Psychoanalytic Therapy?
We have come a long way since Freud! Psychoanalytic therapy operates from the understanding that we are all motivated by our feelings, we are a product of our experiences, and we are naturally health-seeking. These things influence both our understanding of ourselves and how we navigate the world. Our path to health can sometimes be blocked by experiences from our past that lie outside our realm of awareness. Through the lens of attachment theory, intersubjectivist theory, and exploration of your own interpersonal dynamics, psychoanalytic therapy helps you raise your understanding of your own experience. This understanding enables you to create a more meaningful life.
