June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, honor the progress that has been made, and recognize the work that still remains.

At Growing Together Counseling & Healing, Pride Month is also an opportunity to reaffirm something that guides our work year-round: everyone deserves access to mental health care that is affirming, respectful, and safe.

For many LGBTQIA+ individuals, finding a therapist can come with additional questions and concerns.

Will I have to explain basic parts of my identity?

Will my therapist understand my experiences?

Will I feel accepted here?

These questions matter.

Therapy works best when people feel seen, respected, and understood. When clients spend energy educating their providers, defending their identities, or wondering whether they will be judged, it can become harder to focus on the work they came to therapy to do.

At Growing Together, we strive to create a space where LGBTQIA+ individuals can show up as their full selves.

Our role is to provide a supportive and affirming environment where clients can explore what matters most to them.

We recognize that LGBTQIA+ individuals continue to face unique stressors that can impact mental health, including discrimination, rejection, isolation, and barriers to care. We also recognize the resilience, creativity, connection, and strength that exist throughout LGBTQIA+ communities.

Pride Month is a celebration of authenticity, visibility, and belonging. Those values are not limited to one month of the year.
