A Reintroduction to Growing Together

Aug 21, 2026

Hi, I’m Leah, a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Growing Together Counseling & Healing.

Growing Together is right in the middle of another season of growth, and it felt like a good time for a reintroduction. Whether you’ve been connected with us for years or you’re just finding your way here, I thought it would be nice to have a blog post coming directly from me to share a little more about why I created Growing Together, who we’ve become as a team, and what continues to matter to us as we grow.

At its heart, Growing Together began with a pretty simple idea: therapy should feel like a place where you can bring your whole self. Not just the parts of you that make sense, the things you can neatly explain, or the experiences that fit into a diagnosis or treatment plan. The messy relationship patterns, the anxiety that seems to come out of nowhere, the ways you learned to protect yourself that made sense once but might not be working so well anymore, and the parts of yourself you understand intellectually but still can’t seem to change—all of that gets to come with you.

How Growing Together began

Long before I opened Growing Together, I was curious about people—our stories, our relationships, and why we become who we become. Like many people who find their way into helping professions, some of my curiosity about others began with trying to better understand myself: my own relationships, experiences, patterns, and what it means to feel safe and connected to the people around us.

My own experiences in therapy and healing, along with years spent working across different corners of the mental health field, shaped the kind of practice I eventually wanted to build. I wanted a place where therapy could be clinically thoughtful without feeling over-pathologized, where the relationship you have with your therapist matters, and where we could look beyond symptoms and become curious about what is happening underneath them. Most of all, I wanted to create a place where people could feel safe enough to show up as they actually are.

That became Growing Together.

Who we are today

Over the years, our team has continued to grow and evolve. Today, our therapists support individuals, couples, children, teens, and families through many different seasons of life.

Our therapists have different personalities, specialties, training, and ways of working—and we think that’s a good thing. Finding a therapist isn’t just about finding someone with the right credentials or the right letters behind their name. It’s also about finding someone you can connect with, trust, and feel comfortable being yourself around. Across our team, you’ll find therapists who work with anxiety, trauma, relationships, life transitions, emotional overwhelm, identity, parenting, substance use, and many of the other complicated things that come with being human.

We also know there isn’t one way of doing therapy that works for everyone. Our team draws from trauma-informed, attachment-based, relational, and experiential approaches, as well as cognitive approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Depending on who you work with and what brings you in, therapy might involve talking, learning new skills, noticing what happens in your body, exploring relationship patterns, working with different parts of yourself, processing difficult experiences, or simply having a place where you don’t have to hold everything alone.

What connects us is a shared belief that good therapy is about more than reducing symptoms. It’s about becoming curious about yourself and understanding the patterns you keep finding yourself in. It’s about learning what happens inside of you when you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, hurt, or afraid, and finding new ways of relating to yourself and the people you love. And sometimes, it’s about having another person alongside you while you figure all of that out.

There isn’t one right way to heal, and there isn’t one right kind of therapy for everyone. Part of our job is helping you discover what works for you.

Staying connected

We use our blog space to talk about mental health, relationships, trauma, emotional overwhelm, therapy, and the complicated experience of being a human in relationship with other humans. Some of what we share is practical, some of it might give you something new to think about, and hopefully some of it helps you understand yourself with a little more curiosity and compassion.

As Growing Together continues to grow, if you’d like to keep up with what we’re doing, please sign up for our newsletter. That’s the best place to receive updates about our practice, meet new members of our team, and hear about the exciting ways Growing Together is continuing to expand.

Whether you’ve known Growing Together for years or you’re meeting us for the first time, we’re glad you’re here—and I’m excited for you to get to know this next chapter of our practice.
