Accelerated Resolution THERAPY

How does ART work?

Mental health therapy at Growing Together offers you a safe and contained space to explore current and past stressful and traumatic experiences.   We support all clients through  a trauma and attachment-informed lens to explore what in your past and present may be contributing to current challenges or distress. Using this trauma-informed lens, we support you in safely uprooting trauma experiences to assist the brain in reprocessing and reorganizing where traumatic memories are stored. Knowing our clients don’t have to live with the suffering trauma can cause, we use evidenced-based approaches such as ART to support you in reducing or eliminating symptoms of PTSD. Before beginning the ART process, you will build a trusting relationship with your therapist to feel confident that you will be guided through this process safely while feeling deeply supported.

The ART process works to reprogram how your brain is storing distressing memories to reduce the heightened emotions and sensations that accompany the memory. This reprogramming is done through bi lateral stimulation such as eye movements or tapping, visualization through direct guidance from your therapist, contained exposure to the memory, and increasing tolerance for feeling emotions safely. ART does not require you to talk through your traumatic experience or revisit the memory session after session. Each ART session includes multiple techniques to support you in regulating and grounded prior to leaving your therapist’s office. Many clients begin to feel relief from ART as soon as 1-5 sessions.
